18 September 2026 - Alhamdulillah, the Al-Quran Culture Programme continues with the involvement of the Computer Technology (Networking) Workshop.
In this session, students and teaching staff of the Computer Technology (Networking) Workshop together reflected upon and recited Surah Al-Baqarah verses 182 to 190, which are rich with guidance for life, principles of Shariah, and values that shape a prosperous personality and society.
Surah Al-Baqarah verses 182–190 contain various important guidelines for a Muslim's life. Amongst them is the priority of upholding justice and rectifying mistakes in a will, whilst maintaining family ties and kinship.
Verses related to fasting and Ramadan serve as a reminder that the purpose of fasting is to build piety, control desires, and discipline the soul. At the same time, Islam provides concessions and ease for those who are ill, travelling, or unable, showing that the Shariah is not intended to burden the ummah.
Ramadan is also glorified as the month in which the Al-Quran was revealed as a guidance for mankind. Allah also emphasises His closeness to His servants and encourages them to pray and fulfil the demands of obedience to Him.
In married life, spouses are likened to garments that complement, protect, and provide tranquillity to one another. This verse also teaches Muslims to observe the boundaries of worship, including fasting times and etiquette during i'tikaf.
Furthermore, the crescent moon (ahillah) serves as a guide in determining time and the calendar for human affairs and for certain acts of worship such as Hajj. Finally, verse 190 affirms that warfare is only permitted in the context of self-defence against aggression, with the obligation not to transgress limits.
Overall, verses 182–190 emphasise the values of justice, piety, compassion, ease in Shariah, discipline in worship, family harmony, and ethics in facing conflict. All these principles guide Muslims to live a life based on Allah's guidance with wisdom and responsibility.
