GEMENCHEH, 31 July 2026 – The Industry Liaison Unit (UJI), Department of Manpower (JTM), together with ADTEC Tangkak, conducted a working visit to Regent Estate, IOI Plantation in Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan, to explore potential strategic collaboration in plantation mechanisation and automation technology.
The JTM delegation, led by a representative from the Industry Liaison Unit, was received by representatives from IOI Group management and IOI Plantation, IOI Corporation Berhad. The visit included a briefing session, technical discussions, and demonstrations of several technologies and equipment used to support modern plantation operations.
Among the technologies highlighted were electric utility vehicles, an Electric Cart Scissor-Lift, FFB transport machinery, and a Mini Tractor Grabber equipped with a camera system to assist with the grading process. The use of such technology reflects the plantation industry’s efforts to increase productivity, reduce reliance on manual labour, and strengthen operational safety aspects.
The discussion also examined workforce competency requirements to support the operation, maintenance, and improvement of plantation machinery. ADTEC Tangkak’s expertise in technical fields could be leveraged through industry-based training, upskilling of workers, student placements, industrial training, and joint innovation projects.
The visit also opened opportunities for developing a training model that is more responsive to actual industry needs, particularly in the fields of mechanical, electrical, automation, machinery maintenance, and electric vehicle technology. Feedback from industry is also vital to ensure that ADTEC JTM training content remains relevant to current technological developments.
This collaboration is expected to bring mutual benefits through the sharing of expertise, exposure to technology for teaching staff and students, and the provision of career pathways for TVET graduates in the high-technology plantation sector.
JTM, through the Industry Liaison Unit, will continue to strengthen the strategic relationship between ADTEC JTM and industry players to support the industry-driven TVET agenda and to produce skilled, competitive, adaptive, and future-ready workers for technological transformation.
